Blake is a handsome, healthy 13-year-old boy in need of a family. He participated in our hosting program this summer 2015 and is now back in China and registered for international adoption. The other children who were hosted this summer have been matched with a family, and Blake is eager to have a family of his own. His friends are being adopted by families in VA, PA, IL, and SC and he would love to live near one of his friends, if possible.
Because it is a Chinese law that a child must be adopted before their 14th birthday, it is important that Blake is matched with a family very soon so the adoption can be finalized by August 2016 when he will turn 14.
Blake enjoys playing basketball, listening to music and interacting with his classmates. He gets along well with his foster family. Those that interacted with him during the hosting period last summer shared that he is quiet & reserved, but did well in groups and interacting with others. We learned that he loves turtles and is good at miniature golf. He needs encouragement to try new things, but was excited to learn a new skill once he tried.
Blake's file is from one of our partnership orphanages and his file is designated as special focus so someone considering adoption or in any stage of the process is eligible to review his file. His file needs to be returned to China on Monday, December 21st. Please advocate for Blake by sharing his story with others & praying for him.
If your family is interested in learning more about Blake, please contact our China team at email@example.com or by phone at 800.429.3369 and our team would be happy to share more with your family.
Hanna is a healthy 13-year old girl who was part of America World's summer Welcoming Angels hosting session in the U.S. Hanna is in fourth grade and her math teacher is her hero. Hanna gets along well with others. She enjoys playing badminton. She's active and outgoing!
Lizzie is also a healthy girl 11-year old girl who was part of the summer Welcoming Angels hosting session, and is sister to Hanna. Lizzie is in third grade and her favorite subject is drawing. She's active, outgoing, and likes talking and laughing. She enjoys skipping rope.
AWAA staff who met Lizzie and Hanna this summer say that they were always very sweet and respectful. They seemed to get along with their host family very well and adjusted quickly. At each event they were always the ones helping get things set up and the first to start doing dishes and cleaning after. They seemed to always be smiling. During their time here they learned how to swim and loved being in the water.
Hanna and Lizzie’s files are from one of our partnership orphanages in China and are designated as special focus so someone considering adoption or in any stage of the process is eligible to review their files.
Current America World families who are interested making Hanna and Lizzie a part of their family should contact their Family Coordinator.

Johanna is a beautiful, healthy 12-year-old girl in need of a family. Johanna participated in our hosting program this summer. She is now back in China and registered for international adoption. Her caretakers say that she does very well in school and gets along well with her classmates. She is fond of running, music, and comics.
The family that hosted Johanna this summer noted that she is a very sweet girl and is great with other children. She is quiet and reserved, but eventually opens up when she gets to know a person. She really likes art and is good at it! Johanna wants to be adopted and needs a family who can provide a consistent, loving home for her. The family who hosted Johanna is also willing to speak to anyone reviewing her file.
Briana is lovely, healthy 11-year-old girl who needs a forever family. Briana participated in our hosting program this summer and is now back in China and registered for international adoption. Her caretakers note that she gets along well with classmates and takes part in many activities in school. She enjoys running, watching television, and listening to music.
The family that hosted Briana this summer noted that she had a wonderful time in the United States. She seemed to attach very quickly to the host family, especially the siblings. While she was being hosted, one of the older siblings in her host home went away for a few days and Briana cried because she was going to miss her. Briana is very excited about being adopted. Her host family noted that she was an easygoing child.

The Welcoming Angels Hosting program is continuing to go well! The children here from China are being exposed to all sorts of new things, learning English, eating new foods, going to the zoo, swimming and going to the beach are just some of the “firsts” these kids are experiencing!
Hotdogs at the zoo was a first for many of the children – host families quickly learned the kids LOVE ketchup!
The panda was a must see and a major hit!
The kids have been making many trips to the pool. Though they were cautious at first its quickly becoming a favorite activity for many of them. Some of the children have already learned to swim in the short time they’ve been here!
Face-painting is always fun! (host child is on the left, pictured with her host sister)
The children here are from the country side in China and have never seen the ocean! This boy had a BLAST on his first trip to the ocean.
All of the children being hosted are older, healthy children in need of forever families. If you are interested in learning more about them you can reach out to us at America World by emailing Kelsey Hansen at Kelsey.Hansen@awaa.org
Some of the children who are being hosted close to each other have been participating in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes. A local friend of a host family volunteered to meet with all of children up to three times a week while the kids are here. She has been teaching them some of the basics to help with communicating while they are here.
Learning has been fun for the children – they started by practicing sounds (see the video) and learning basic verbs during their first session together.
Yesterday they met for a picnic to practice learning language used when eating! (Names of foods, utensils, how to ask for things, etc.) The children were only allowed to speak in English during the class – they are all learning quickly and soaking up the new language!
The children are older children from China, all of them need forever families. They will be here until July 13th. If any family is interested in learning more about the children, there are opportunities to meet them or to talk with the host parents. Let us know and we would be happy to set something up.
Sunday we had a gathering with all of the host families. It was a wonderful time for everyone to reconnect after having spent the weekend with each of their own individual families. Everyone laughed, played and ate lots of food!

We are excited to announce that as of today, our China hosting group is en route to the DC area and will arrive later tonight!
We will have the opportunity to host 8 orphans in the U.S. for several weeks where they will spend time with our staff and their host families. Activities will be provided for both the children and their host families while they are here. The children will have the opportunity to learn about U.S. culture, experience the 4th of July, as well as enjoy family life with their host families.
Please pray with us that the hosting group will have safe travel today and that each child will transition well with their host families here in the U.S.
All 8 of the children being hosted are registered for adoption, so be praying with us that God will call forever families forward for all of these beautiful children.
We will be providing updates on our blog, so be sure to be to watch for future updates as the group arrives, meets their host families for the first time, and participates in activities over the coming weeks!
